figure the electric pump out

I'm unsure of your reasoning for installing an electric fuel pump? EFI?

Either way, to prevent the fuel pump from continuing to pump fuel after an accident (it will continue to pump fuel as long as the key is on and possibly make a bad situation worse), install an inertia switch (as used and required by motor vehicle safety standards). Obtaining and wiring in an inertia switch is a VERY simple process. Re-setable switches (with a button on them) can be found new (cheap) and used (cheaper). The switch is wired into the fuel pump power "loop" and activates (kills power to the pump) when the vehicle encounters a "sharp blow", such as in an accident.

only reason for the EFI is that the 86 302 motor that came with the car has a timing cover without the mechnical fuel pump. The PO mounted the electric fuel pump but Im pretty sure he never had it working. Ive considered replacing the timing cover and going with a mechanical fuel pump
