Brake lines - MC to distribution/ prop valve

Good call on the remote knob. I read about someone installing the adjustable proportioning valve atop the trans tunnel inside the car. He had issues with a soft pedal and finally figured out that his proportioning valve was creating a high point in the system between the front and rear, allowing for air to get trapped at the proportioning valve.

Okay, I think I'm finally comfortable with my distribution/prop valve lines to MC now that I have loops in both. The NAPA poly lines bend really easily, I used their kit and scissors type bender to start my bends to 90*, then wrapped the rear most one around a tall 3/4" socket for a tight loop and the forward one went around a 7/8", no kinking, slow and steady wins the race.
Word to the unwise (me) pick your line length you think will fit, lets say a 12" line, then cut a piece of coathanger wire to 12" and bend it in the shape needed to make sure it will reach once all the bends and loops are in it and to give you a template to follow. I wasted 2 lines (~$4ea.) by either coming up short or bending in the wrong 90* direction or starting my loop the wrong direction. Lesson learned.

Thanks for the help along the way, time to tackle the rear line forward and the 3/8" fuel lines so I can return the NAPA line bending/flaring kit and get my $100 deposit back.

Thanks for the compliments guys, it's really the polymer lines that made it easier. If they were the standard metal lines I'd have a pile of kinked lines, a dent in the garage door and would have drank twice as much beer, invented new curse words....hey wait a minute, drank twice as much beer...hmmmm

I was at a car show this weekend, and one street rod had braided stainless lines running from his MC to his dist block. They had factory-looking fittings at each end. I think that would be a great solution - much less hassle bending to fit and plenty of flexibility.

But, I was unable to speak to the owner, and I've never seen these any where. Anyone know where one could get such lines?

I want some lines to go from my '03 Cobra MC to my '68 Mustang distribution block...

Theory on the use of "soft" lines is that they should be used on a brake system as sparingly as possible due to "swelling" of the soft line under pressure. Supposedly even new lines will expand to some extent under pressure. Metal "hard" lines do not expand. Expansion within the lines reduces pressure. You may want to research it some more before swapping any hard lines to soft ones.

I am usins soft lines from my MC to my distribution block. As Dave said it is not the best solution but I could not get the hard lines run to my satisfaction. What I like about it now is clearance and flexiblity. I can unbolt the mc and take out my booster if I needed to without having to disconnect the brake lines. I think the look is pretty clean as well. IIRC the flex lines I am using are 8 or 9" long. I got them from a local speed shop. I believe they are Russel braided lines.
