Carburetor Tuning Help - Hesitation

Both the #7 and #8 plugs were a little darker than the others. I took the car out for another drive tonight and there is no pop noise. It final stopped raining and I could confirm the hesitation still exist. It is 1/4 second hesitation when I press the gas hard.

I have a TrueTrac differential and 3.25 gears to replace my current 2.79 gears. Would it be best to work to fix the hesitation now or wait until after I replace the gears (~1.5 months)? Could a change of gears require a different jet size or should it not matter?
 
I would say fix the hesitation now. Then, if there is any thing that changes with the gears, you can keep the problems identified as to cause.

I an forgetting, have you/can you change the accelerator cams on the linkage?
 
I started with the stock orange cam. I switched to a dark green one and am currently using a pink one. I've also switched between a 31 and 35 accelerator pump nozzle. I'm not sure if the hesitation is because of too much gas or two little. There is no backfire or anything. Is there a way to know if I need more or less gas?
 
You need to see if there is black smoke upon the problem acceleration. A puff of black smoke from the exhaust indicates a bit to much gas. No smoke indicates good or to lean. Lean sometimes creates a backfire which you say you don't have so......
 
Another thing you can do is clean the spark plugs real good while sitting alongside a country road, start the car and real quick take off like a raped ape and then turn the car off immediately and coast to the side of the road. Inspect the plugs to see if they are black or not. The intent is to minimize the time the car is in the idle circuit and keep it in the primary with the secondaries going. That is what I've read in the past but have not tried this yet. Others can confirm this or call me crazy :scar
