Crazy stuff on the news right now..

A 6-year-old kid climbed into his dad's experimental Helium Balloon, and it took off with him in it.

He is currently flying around denver. I'm watching the Live New Feed from MSNBC (Shutup, that's just the link my buddy sent me) and just praying he comes down safely.

Hard to turn away right now.

I heard about that...my wife asked our 8 year old if he wanted to take a balloon ride and he said no...smart kiddo...

Even more disturbing.....

Exctracted from the comments below the news article.....

If it's filled with helium like they say, wouldn't the child suffocate after a while? (Given that he's in there of course) Just curious, I'm not a chem major.

I'm not a chem major? Christ, I'm surprised you made it through 2nd grade.

Something else to consider....

The helium filled balloon lifted off of the ground and headed in which direction?

Mark/Jeremy.... can you see him yet?

Uh oh.... it just got a lot worse.... the balloon has touched down and he's not there. Not a good sign at all.

Didn't make it this far, I woulda brought that sucker down!

As far as the helium, it would just make him talk funny (had he been in there) <sarc>

Seems like the media got suckered again :rofl

Plus the fact that he was not actually IN the ballon, but the plywood basket. Thus, no helium. But it's a mute point anyway...

I'm hoping that the kid is hiding in the next door neighbors backyard afraid that his daddy is going to tar and feather him for accidentally untethering the balloon.

Wishful thinking I guess.

How big was the balloon? I'm hearing lots of rumblings about the size of the balloon not even being able to lift the kid.

If that's the case, then he obviously didn't fall out. I think you're right Dave. He was playing around, knocked daddy's balloon lose, and ran to hide. That's my best guess.

Not necessarily. When I was in the Navy, there was a helium tank on one of the rear decks (never did figure out why). We used to go back there and hit on it and talk funny. One day, a guy took a hit off the tank, hit the deck, and went into convulsions for about 5 minutes, then came around and didn't have a clue as to what just happened to him.

That was it for the helium for us!

Come on, your dad builds a helium balloon out of aluminum foil....my bet is the 6 yo could take him.....

Yeah, i was thinking that also... and then thought of Jeremy's Walmart shopping cart sized hood scoop.... and then it didn't add up anymore.

Thankfully, I was wearing my aluminum foil helmet all day at work. Just found out about this!
