Dave what do you think about the Can-Am type bikes?

I know that you like to ride, but what do you think about the 3 wheeled motorcycles. I do not see a lot of them, but they are out on the highway.

There's a few of those running around town here. Personally, I like em. I'd own one.....if I was willing to pay 5 figures for a bike. MSRP on the low end one is $16,500. They don't handle or drive like a bike, but more like a 4-wheeler.

Good question forddude. I've always wanted to know the biker's perspective on those things. And 16G?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Seriously?

Mike is probably better equipped to answer this question than I am, but yes, I see these bikes at the various rally's we attend. More often than not though they are being operated by girls.... so that's gotta tell you something.

I've noticed that they don't take sharp turns at speed very well, but that just could be result of the girls that are operating them. As I understand it, they are VERY quick/fast on the straightaways.

$16k ??? Walk into a Harley dealership and $16k starts to look pretty cheap.

There are a bunch on the roads here.....but then again, I am told there are a bunch of :ga around here too. They do corner pretty good from what a retired Col. said when the shop had a test ride day. As said, no 3 wheeled bike would ride like a 2 wheeler unless they have the lean capabilities, (I believe there are some of those too).

The price is up there when you are getting less than a 1000 cc bike. It seems like they could have put in more engine along with the added weight.

This style bike has been around for years. I believe the Germans had some built up over the years.

Not to hijack....What are your thoughts on a HD powerd trike? My GF's mom rides a three wheeled Gold Wing. Not strong enough to hold up the size bike she wants to ride I suppose.

I like the trikes and have seen some REALLY nice ones. If you're going to be cruising a lot of miles a trike comes in real handy.

I'm glad someone asked these questions as it was my mind to do so.

IMHO the can-am's look dumb, I don't see the point. There is one around my house and I actually laugh whenever I see it as it just looks ridiculous. I don't get the idea of a trike either, there were three last week as part of a m/cycle cruise I saw. Is it just to say you are on a "motorcycle" although IMHO a true m/cycle has only two wheels, unless it had a sidecar and then it's ultra-cool.

Or you can really spend money like it's going out of style and buy one of these.
Monotracer in TX

I see your Monotracer and raise you this...

:lol :lol

My thought was unless you are like Kelly Ripa and do not know how to ride a bike, I do not see the point of 3 wheels on a motorcycle.

So is a Rebel. My point is that it seems like a lot for that thing. I thought it would be around $10g.

Speaking of Rebels, I saw a woman giving one hell on the freeway a few days ago. And when I say giving it hell, I mean she was a BIG girl and that poor bike was doing its best to do the speed limit. Looked like a silverback riding a moped.

Oh believe me, I wanted to get a pic. But I sided with caution since it was wall to wall traffic, all going between 60-70mph and 5 lanes wide.

There are those that really want to ride a bike again, but for various health reasons can't make a 2 wheel version work. My dad used to have bikes till he started getting rheumatoid arthritis. I've been trying to convince him to get a 3 wheel version that he's comfortable with, but he's too much of a tightwad to spend that kind of coin.

If I could swing it, I'd buy it for him just to see him smile.

no seein the value in these things. If it's got 3 wheels, I prefer this type of setup.
