do front fenders get shimmed typically?

I know it is standard practice on chevy's to shim the front fenders for alignment, but I can't say that I have ever noticed shims under the fenders of any mustangs (along the top of the apron, under the fender for example)... if not how are they adjusted?

Especially if you have a fiberglass hood. I have shims on my car. But on the wife's car, there are none.

I have no shims on either car. Never had them on any Mustang I have ever had. We did have to use a power spreader to align the fenders and get the holes to line up on the 67.

If guys here have them and have used them, no doubt that they were used and and work. I think it depends on how badly out of line they are. I did find that I had to get all the under hood rubber from CJ Pony Parts and install it on the 67 so that the hood would fit right and not be too low. You must have the bumpers or the hood will dip too low. Don't forget the rubber on the firewall to seal the hood and help align the rear. I know if the hood is too tall with the rubber parts, you can trim them and get it to get a little lower.

None on mine except on the bottom. I have a 1/8 shim on the right side of the cowl. Was always there from the looks of it.

I just shimmed mine up last week, I got tired of looking at the hood bow. now i get to look at the shims, least of the two evils though. the 69 assembly manual doesnt list them for the top fo the fenders but does for the bottom connection point by the door.

Mine had shims similar to what you use on the upper A arms, only smaller.

I used a horseshoe style that i picked up in a plastic boxed assortment at harbor frieght i think sizes from 1/32 to 1/8 th made it real easy.

The shims that are on my car are similar to the alignment shims -- without the tab up top. There are two different thickness shims on the car.

My 66 had shims at the bottom of fender to rocker but none at the tops of the fender aprons

If you have to shim the fender then most likely the flare of the inner apron ( where the fender is attached to ) stuck out too much ( too high ) . Caused by welding up some rust spots , familiar? )
Just bent it downwards and your fender will fit properly.IMHO
