Drivetrain help needed....

Doesn't look like a Tru-Trac to me. Doesn't like like a Ford Trac Lok either - bolt heads look too big... :conf and it's fully machined.... :headac

Exactly where I was going with my earlier additional picture request. I'd prefer to see as many pictures as possible to help ID this unit.

That's definitely not a true-trac, unless they changed the design. From what I remember, you can see the worm gears through the diff case on the true-trac.

The True-Trac is a worm-gear based traction-sensing differential. It instantly senses when one wheel loses traction and simultaneously transfers torque to the opposite wheel. There is no slipping to cause heat and wear like in a standard clutch-based limited slip differential, but engagement is smooth, unlike a standard locker. Basically, it acts like an open diff until you break traction.

Ok, finally got more pics. What do you guys think?

Still hard to tell (for me, anyway), but it's most definitely not a TrueTrac. You can see the pinion gears through the case. Honestly, it looks like an open diff to me with the ring gear bolts that you can fit a box end wrench on.

Do you need to modify the transmission tunnel for the TKO600?

The only area we needed to slightly modify was the shifter opening on the tunnel. The rubber boot of the TKO600 mini-tower was getting "squished" a little bit in the right forward corner of the opening. I removed maybe 1/4" of metal to make some breathing room for the rubber boot.

I didn't modify my '69 at all. The shifter boot is very close, but not close enough that I wanted to cut my car.
