I have everything to Start my Engine build- Except pistons. I have been trying to decide if i Should Build my stroker with aluminum Windsor style heads OR Cleveland style heads."boss"/ or "clevor". The C pistons are different than W-

I am not a HP number Junkie, Just want a fun ride with Good power from 1500-6500 RPM.

Please end my debating and help me come up with a solution so i Can start this engine build.

Eagle 3.85 Stroke Crank Cast
Ford Racing/Scat Forged 4340 I beam rods

Nice set of 205 Twisted Wedges would do the trick. Remember using Cleveland heads will cost you quite a bit to get them set up right and I've heard the geometry of the valvetrain is crucial and not for a beginner (not saying you are). Then the added cost of an intake.

I like the trick flow stuff really well on a small bore engine myself.

Alright aluminum SBF head it is.- I'm looking at 2 different sets of pistons

KB-364 with +22cc Dish Hyper 64CC head=9.5 Compression Ratio

Probe P2305 +12.2cc Dish Forged 64CC head=10.16 Compression Ratio

Would 10.16 CR require higher than 91 octane? or any additive I don't want to have to worry wherever i drive to pick up an octane booster.

Also Would pinging be an issue with an aluminum head, And what would be the difference in Power if any, Which piston would you pick?

Again My hats off to you guys, This is my first engine build I'm gonna need some help.

FYI, the pistons in my last engine were SRP aluminum flat tops listed at 10.4 compression and the only time I ran fuel higher than 91 was at the track. Never noticed any problems with pump gas on the street.

Awesome Thanks! We have horrible 89 octane locally., If i was building a clevor my only choice for pistons would have been SRP heard alot of good stuff bout em.

got all the stuff for the stroker, pistons came in today, they have 3 valve reliefs-??WTF i don't understand why one is on the outer edge of the piston, Wanted to see what you guys could learn me.

My guess for having 3 valve reliefs is the pistons are built to handle twisted wedge heads or the traditional in line valves.

You can get away with about a point higher compression with aluminum heads, so you should be ok with 10.2.

why not an SRP for your windsor?

whoops sorry didn't see that-The probe pistons were forged and just as much dough as a hyper SRP.

I picked up my block last night, took in the block a lifetime ago it seems, I also dropped off flywheel, king bearings, and a professional products harmonic balancer, he told me 10 days to get it balanced (so add 4 months)

i was a little pissed that none of the plugs or dowels were in, i had to beg to get the cam bearings in! I'm going to put it on the engine stand so i can snap some pics
:wop

I remember that stage, looks like a nice clean empty slate!
Looking forward to watching this engine build.
Jon

thanks! hopefully i can get my rotating assembly quicker than the block.

I taped it off ready for Old ford blue in the morning- Thanksgiving inspired stove top frost plug covers.- :roll

i didn't know SRP made hypers.
I thought i saw some hyper domed Cleveland/Boss SRP pistons on ebay, but thats ebay.. Looking at the website i don't see anything but forged :shrug

i'm not sure why you would want a hyper piston for your application anyway. it would seem like a step backwards...

the reason manufacturers use hyper pistons is because they can run tighter tolerances and therefore have less oil consumption. Hypereutectic pistons don't expand and contract like forged pistons but they aren't as strong either.
My TRW forged pistons are noisy when it's cold and I use a little oil but I know I won't hurt 'em.

If there are no plans to add a power adder to the engine the hyper pistons will be just fine.
