Fast and Loud Mustang

I have heard horror stories about the some of the first cars that came out of Overhaulin' Building a quality car in a week, no matter how big a crew, can't be done. Things get skipped, paint gets rushed.....

Plus if someone else builds your car where is that final satisfaction of that first drive after all your hard work?

Ken:

I remember several years ago at Knott's running into one of the Overhauled victims. He was the young man in a wheel chair with a '67 Fastback that was equipped with hand controls the received the full Overhaulin' package. He stopped by my car on the show field and we got to talking. I recognized him from the show and he was a solid gear head and an all around nice guy with a great family...I enjoyed our conversation. I learned that his car needed additional tweaking after the show finale. Apparently it had been several months at that point and his car was still not home. As I recall there was no target delivery date and he was contemplating relocating to someplace like Costa Rica. Not sure what actually happened after that.

These are the same stories that have been told over and over again when the show first came on the air. There was a reason they never took them for test drives, most were not operable. I believe the new version of Overhaulin is actually stretched out over several weeks now. Much more reasonable.

They have turned out some very nice "appearing" cars, but I still don't think quality can be had in 7 days by an overworked, rushed crew. I will keep building them myself!
