Going under the knife...

I've managed to avoid hospitals since my tonsil were removed in 1969... Until now. :char

Looks like I'm having surgery next Wednesday to repair an abdominal hernia. :rant
Timing sucks, but when is it good?

Good luck Bob but we need more info.

Just how did you come about said hernia?

Hope it is some great story about coming across a guy in a burning cement truck and you were able to lift up the truck and pull him out to safety.

Just an in & out - a week off of work/life, 2 weeks no lifting or straining, 6 weeks taking it easy, then better than new... :thu
Already gave me the painkiller scrip. :yah

In adults, they actually use a mesh material to repair the hole. Hopefully that won't turn me into a Corvette fan or anything... :skul

Better story would be the one where you pulled those Hooter girls out of the burning restaurant and you got the hernia while they were showing you their appreciation.

Same procedure I had about 3 years ago. I still have a small pain spring up every once in a while. Doc says normal. All went well with me. Hope you have a cuter nurse.....makes things a lot easier.

Not really sure when, how, or why it happened, so I guess I'm at liberty to make something up??? :say_what

Just know that my belly button turned from an innie to an outie a few months ago, and ended up in severe pain when my intestines tried to come thru the hole! :no :sm_TMI

Gets me out of helping the daughter move back from college in a couple weeks too! :roll

That sounds more like you are pregnant.

Hope they can save the baby!

Hope surgery goes well.

good luck. had similar surgery a few days ago after putting off the pain for about 6 months. wasn't too bad, should have done it sooner.

As much as I've been tested, scanned, poked, prodded, needled, and made to drink nasty ^%)$ crap, I'm sure they've tested for that too!!!

My helpful hints for the day...
If the tech can't establish an IV after FOUR attempts, just get up, leave, and find a new doctor...
When they say "oops" and run out of the room while your arm swells to double it's size, somebody ^&*%ed up...
NEVER follow up a barium drink with hot wings for dinner... :puk

LMFAO!!!! THAT was classic! :thu

I have been there done that twice, don't take the instructions lightly, last one was with mesh, the one through the bellybutton was not, I thought the mesh one was VERY uncomfortable (to me anyway) I hope yours goes smoothe, quick operation, don't be afraid to ask for pain relief, and do not lift even a gallon of milk afterward. Good luck and Gods speed on recovery!

Does that mean we can get together and have a spring blowout?

I had a linguinal hernia repaired some 4 or 5 years ago. I very much enjoyed the 2 weeks spent at home, resting, reading, eating ice cream, and napping. A welcomed period of "time-out". I even got to watch the wife mow the lawn!

Bob they are no big deal. I had a triple done a few years back, maybe 6. I was at the Knott's show less than 2 weeks later. The one thing that my Doctor said was that it is easier on "older" adults. Enjoy not having to pick heavy things up for awhile. I would show you my scars, but then I would have to kill you. :sarc

Good luck. Ask for the good stuff for pain.

In 1980 I was down a month for hernia and I am waiting to be released for work the 1st of May.
