meaning at night... A lot of the shooting went on in the dark, and even zoo officials and vets were saying tranquilizers couldn't be safely done, something about the animal having adverse reactions, and going on a rampage. I say they did a good thing... Maybe not the best thing, but a good one.

I also hate the fact that the animals had to be killed. But, when they did attempt to tranquilize one large tiger, it enraged it rather than sedating it, and it became much more dangerous so that it had to be killed.
 
The law enforcement were in a no win situation, sedate them and get someone killed or mauled and you are an idiot for not just shooting them, shoot them for safety's sake and you have P.E.T.A. and others saying you should have sedated them or trapped them. :shrug
