Heat shrink tube as a hose clamp?

I am running Gates Heat Shrink hose clamps for my radiator hoses and love the look. I had some crankcase pressure build up during my recend dyno tuning so I have decided to install my new crankcase evac system now rather than wait when I put on my JBA shorty's later this year.

The crankcase evac system uses a couple gromets in the valve covers and a hose connected to the exhaust to pull the pressure from the engine. I have a couple nice looking plastic nipples I got from the hardware store but I really don't want to use big hose clamps. I was contemplating using large diameter heat shrik tubing used for wiring to clamp down the hose to the fittings. The hose fits very tight on the clamp and I don't think it would take much pressure to hold them down. Do you guys think wiring heat shrink would be enough to hold a low pressure hose?
 
I have never used clamps on the PCV system unless the hose just would not stay on. That was usually a case of the wrong hose then. You sure you will need them?
 
Good point. I can hardly get the hose on the fitting. I will likely use a clamp on the exhaust side because of the heat. I'll leave the valve covers without clamps. Thanks Pete.
 
Only place I've ever seen clamps on PCV is on boats (required for CG backfire protection rules). Also never seen one come disconnected from pressure, only due to rotted hose.
 
Just so you have another opinion, I clamp everything since my car shakes and vibrates so much (solid mounts, radical cam). It still amazes me what gets loose after a track day.
 
Heat Shrink Tubing for wires does not have the strength or adhesion for what you are describing. I would not recommend it.
 
Thanks for the link horseplay. I actually use the clamps for my radiator hose. They work great and look very clean. The only problem is when you need to remove a hose. You cannot save the clamps and they are $5 each. Not much money but it you have a new engine that is not perfect from day one it can add up. :$$$
