High RPM burnouts.....

I sure hope you don't have the deer population down there that we have up here.


Because of the remoteness of the road/area it is a popular parking spot for deer hunters. Hopefully they're all tagging their limit and then some.
 
I don't think it was the car Dave. I think you were so excited/scared when you finally got the tires to break loose you couldn't stop shaking.


Sounds like an overheated clutch.

I agree that it was probably the clutch. Getting the tires to break loose isn't the problem. Getting them to not break loose is.

Update.

I pulled the '66 out yesterday after work and couldn't detect any issues whatsoever. The car runs/drives without any issues. Maybe the vibration could be attributed to the clutch getting an excessive workout.... I dunno, but everything is working fine now.

On the Cavalier's non-energized radiator cooling fan issues..... starting the troubleshooting with the simplest possible causes I pulled the large underhood 30 amp fuze to find it blown. Replacing the fuze has fixed the problem. What caused the fuze to blow in the first place I don't know, but if it continues working I really don't care.

Maybe things are starting to look up!

Go check all the connectors in the cooling fan circuit, including the ones in the fuse holder the big 30 came from. Seen a few fan circuits where the fuse holder lugs had opened slightly so the contact between the holder and the fuse gets crappy, resulting in more resistance/heat/blow fuses.
You'll be pissed if the holder melts due to bad contacts, seen that happen also. If the contacts are not grabbing the fuse, you might be able to take a pick or small screwdriver and bend the tabs back out. Best if you can get at the bottom of the fuse box to do so but a seal pick might allow topside access.......if you need to even mess with it.
Check the electric fan(s) to be sure they/it are not starting to hang. Spin by hand if possible and see if they/it resists spinnging. That can also cause the fuse holder to get loose, thanks to the amp loading, which comes with added heat.

I took a few pictures of the burnout marks, but it didn't really do much justice. So..... I took the car down to my local abandoned/deadend road and took another 15,000 miles off of the rear tires.... just for you guys... because some of you need some motivation to get out there and have some fun!
