Hoist Finally Home

Well yesterday was the big moving day. I was able to bring home the used hoist I bought. The move was not bad at all. It came with a wheel kit so it was mobile. We simply hooked a winch cable to it and pulled it right up on my buddies trailer and tied it down and off we went. From time we started loading it to time we unloaded it and had it in my garage was less than 1 hour. I put my 95 on it right away at it lifted it with no problem. Man I am going to like this. No more laying under cars. :) :) :)

Cool! My wheel kit is nearly worthless! can you post pics of the wheel kit installed, maybe I am not doing something right.

I love my lift! I would never be without it!

I removed the wheel kit when I got it in place then bolted it to the floor. The kit can not be used while you want to use the lift. They are just for rolling it around.
 
Mine will not roll when the lift is empty and down. I have never tried it with a car on it and lowered...

Are the ceiling joists of normal height? Also what safety features does the lift have when the car is up in the air and your under it? That looks like a great lift.
 
That's cool! doesn't take up as much room as I thought it would! It looks 'little'! Good job!

The garage is a pole building with 12 FT. walls. With the car all the way up I have about 2 FT. to spare at the closest point. All 4 posts have a lock on them. You simply raise car up to the height you need it then lower it down until the locks engage. My plans are when I bring the 69 home from the body shop to put it up on the hoist and park the 95 under it. Then when i want to work on the 69 I just back the 95 out and go to work.
 
I would put a floor under your project that can be easily removed in order to keep leaks off the car on the bottom.

I have the bolts to bolt mine to the floor, but didn't since you don't need to and this way your lift should be mobile. My original idea was to make it mobile enough to get a car up in the air in the driveway so I could steam clean under each car.

My ceiling is 12 feet and I have a couple feet to spare. When I put the Excursion on it I can not raise it all the way. When the garage door is open I can not raise the cars all the way. I have a paint boo boo on the hoods of both cars because I wasn't careful! On the 65 no biggie, but on the 67, I have to repaint the hood!

The hoist came with 3 drip pans to keep leaks off the car below. I am planning on making a few more so I can cover the whole bottom of the hoist. I also plan on buying a sliding lift jack so I can take wheels off while on the lift.
 
I use a bottle jack and the jack tray that came with it. I only have one so I can only lift one end of the car. I put jack stands under the car. Make sure to put something on both sides of one of the wheels still on the hoist. The car will still roll.

Try using some cheap wafer board 1/2" or so. I also have some plexiglass.
