How much does your Mustang weigh?

I sold my stock seats and can't recall their weight. I do know that the Fiero seats I plan to use actually weighted a bit less when I compared the two. I don't think they could weigh more than 25-30 pounds. I'll have to go out and weigh them again now just to satisfy my curiosity. Anybody care to weigh as stock bucket?

The front and back plexi is where you are really shaving some pounds.

My goal is to come in around 2900 lbs. I'm hoping losing the stock interior (rear seat delete), 4 wheel disc (aluminum caliper), aluminum engine components, drive shaft, wheels and 9"/4-link set-up will get me there. Unfortunately, all the steel used in the connectors, cage and 4-link frame mods will probably (prolly) nullify most of the lighter component weight benefits. If this were a track only car plexi would surely be my next move.
 
This thread is killing me....

I'm getting in my car today (hopefully) and driving around until I find a certified scale. There's a scrapyard I know of with what seems like a fairly accurate scale, but I'm not sure if it's certified.... doubt it.


My car is probably most similar to Marks so far....

FG R model front apron
FG hood
Absolutely "ZERO" sound deadening.
Plexi-glass Shelby R style rear qtr windows
Rear seat delete/package tray
6pt cage
AL wheels
Bullet style mufflers with side exits

Differences:

Aluminum driveshaft
4 link rearend (has to be an 80 pound difference from conventional leaf springs)
Rear disc brakes
Aluminum intake/induction
Aluminum radiator
MII frontend (shock towers, coil springs, shocks, steering gearbox, centerlink, inner/outer tie rods removed, but crossmember, coilovers and power R&P added... probably close to a wash, but there could be possible weight savings here).

The big "unknown" for me is my car has a 2x3" fully boxed steel frame from the radiator crossmember back to the rear bumper. Other than an integrated driveshaft safety loop..... that you could probably swing the car around from with a crane.... there's not a lot of "overkill" to the frame design, but I'm guessing that the frame is probably a few pounds heavier than the structural pieces of the uni-body design.

Let me see if I can find a picture of the DS safety loop.... what the frame builder was expexting I have no idea, but calling it "stout" is an understatement.

I helped a buddy in HS repair his Jeep after a low speed (mudding) u joint break. DS was probably around 1500 -2000 RPM at the time. Based on the incredible damage that caused, I'd say yours is designed correctly.
