Thanks to everyone for responding and suggestions. I'm not having any battery problems or leak down, just the cable issue. I like to unclamp the cable when I am working on the car.

You might want to look at these. My Dodge Ram uses them, and it's very easy to disconnect - just pull the nut from the stud, and remove the ring terminals. You never remove the clamp, so no flexing - perhaps eliminating your issue.

Keep in mind that the round poles of the battery differents in diameter!!

So are the clamps !!

The clamps are marked with plus or minus and have to be use for that particular pole.
