I Bought The Project 69 Mustang

Wife's pics do not have to have commentary from her......as said....we are just simple folks here. :rofl :rofl :rofl

If you go with a TKO-600, it has a .64 overdrive. You may want to consider running more gear in the rear if you go that route.

I'm running 3.89's in the rear of my '69 and it's about perfect. I'm turning about 2700 RPM's at 75 mph, have tons of acceleration in 5th, and 1st is still plenty useful (can pull through an intersection before having to shift to 2nd).

I get between 17 and 18 mpg on the freeway with the 408, even with those gears, because of the .64 overdrive.

Went and picked up the parts car today. Was able to get a few pictures of it before we moved it out. I will try to post them.To my surprise when we were loading some of the extra parts up the guy I bought this off came walking out with a shaker top. He does not have the base but that will same me some money. Will be picking the Dynacorn body up sometime this week. As for the painting of it all I plan on doing for now is just the bottom side and under the hood and all the edging. Then will bring the car back home and start to swap the parts I am going to use off the parts car. If I don't edge the body now everything I put on would not have paint under it. I also stated in my original post about this car that the parts car was a S code. Well it is not. It is a R code. A true 428 CJ car. Now to try and post the pictures.
 
Ok I tried to upload 2 pictures into my gallery. It showed that one uploaded but I can not find it. So I tried to upload the other and it did not show as uploading. So I give up trying to do this until I can find out what I am doing wrong. Oh and by the way the wife and I have picked the color for the car. It is going to be a 69 factory color Royal Maroon.

I would think seriously about selling the R code as is, and find a cheaper parts car, unless this R code is very, very, very trashed.

+1. What color and how was the R-code optioned? You could pull decent money and get a better parts car selling the R code.
 
The problem with the R code is there is no title to it. The seller claims he never got one with it when he bought it. The car looks better than it really is. Would need almost all sheet metal replaced but the roof. It has damage to the right shock tower and the floor panels are shot.

That looks like a VERY fun project. Unless there is something really wrong with the car, I'd consider restoring it. I'm sure the title issue can be resolved.
 
I agree, it is definitely restorable, but you have to figure if the quarters and floors are rusted, the frame rails are probably as well. A lot of work and a lot of money, but the R code is worth the effort. The title issue would need to be resolved anyway, correct. How else do you title/register a dynacorn shell?

+1! I would have LOVED to have a car in that good of shape when I was redoing mine. :wtf
 
I wonder what the original owner was thinking, figure the dynacorn runs what 15K, I cant imagine that one running that much to replace the bad sheetmetal. Unless there is a lot more damage than you can see.
 
After we made the deal the seller told me he broke even. Said he found a dealer for Dynacorn that had a body he wanted to dump. Sounds like it was ordered then the guy backed out. He told me he bought the Dynacorn body for $10,000. He had the parts car for a number of years and never did anything with it. From the amount of dust on it a would have to agree. IMO opinion the R code is to far gone to repair. It needs new quarters,both doors,right side tower assembly, all the floors panels, frame rails seem soft as does the torque boxes. Basically it needs a new body. So that is my plan for now.
 
I would strongly suggest looking into what that R-code will bring as is.

You could probably turn it into enough cash to buy a nicer donor car and have some spare cash.

That sounds like an average Mustang restoration... at least here in the northeast! I'd seriously think about selling the R-Code and buying a good solid coupe for a doner. You could buy all the fastback specific parts and pay for your paint job probably with the money you save....
