I don't understand new "connected cars" ...

I apprenticed under an old timer mechanic at the Ford dealership when I got out of high school. I gotta wonder what he'd say about all this tech stuff in cars today. He had a fit when he saw a new Ford pickup with electric windows that I was doing some warranty work on. They were uncommon back then and he when he saw them he stated "if a som bitch is too lazy to roll down his own damn windows, then he's too damn lazy to need a truck"!! :)
 
There are a growing number of teslas down here in the southland. I think they are good looking cars, even if at this point in time they have limited range. I am sure that will change over time.

Then he would love the bosses new F150 Lariat. It has all of the bells and whistles. :D

That hacking can happen in any new car. Hacker can easily dump code into his own vehicle, take it in for service...say a Mercedes dealership. Their service department connects the car to the mother ship in Germany for updates and viola....Worm is now in ALL MBs that are connected to the mother ship software. Program could say turn right at midnight 23Dec2017 for all cars that have downloaded that software. We're all at the mercy of those nerds you made fun of in high school.
