And here I thought it was tough to restore a Mustang? phyfffttt! Assembling a lego VW Camper is just pure hell! WTF did I ever do to you guys, to deserve this? 14 bags of plastic pieces which are not at all identified. Meaning if one bag was for frame and body with another for engine and another for interior, THAT would be awesome. But no such luck. It's all "sir mix alot". So if we spend an hour a night, I expect to be dead before we finish.

Allow me to share a little story.

For Christmas my son got some Lego sets.....by some....I mean 8 lego sets (thousands and thousands of pieces). He also had several lego sets already. He and I spent a number of weekends over the course of January sharing quality time together putting them together.

In the middle of February we had a big "happy 6th birthday" party at my house.

On Monday/Tuesday immediately following I was tied up at work so I didn't get home till late and walked into his room real late and kissed him while he was asleep....I did note that his face was 'moist'. I talked to Maria and she said he has been crying a lot the last couple of days and she didn't know why.

Wednesday I came home late again, but he wasn't in bed yet he was up in room alone. I go upstairs to say hi and find him sobbing quietly to himself while attempting to put his lego sets back together. It turns out that during his b-day party some little asshole went up to him room when no one was paying attention and literally smash/tore/pulled apart every single lego playset. EVERY GODDAMN BRICK WAS TAKEN APART. I don't know why exactly but he never said anything to me about it and every night he was up in his room heroically trying to put it all back together.

It took me 10+ hours to separate it all and reassemble it all on Saturday....without the benefit of the parts being in numbered bags that you open 1 by 1 as you progress through the directions. Some of the pieces couldn't be found but I managed to get most of it back together.

Here is a sampling of some of the carnage

And here is it all fixed up

Wait till he finds out he's missing a bag of parts. Guess what - we've got the remaining bag of parts and will tell you our ransom at Knott's.....

I'm a pro now.....I could have it together lickety split

don't give in that easy...remember he always asked for a round trip airline ticket on HootersAir. I am sure he is willing to pay even more!

You're supposed to open all the bags and dump the parts in a box and mix them all around. This will make it much easier!

Mel

My mother in law did that with my son made my life hell.

Craig:
Send Barb out on one of her fishing trips and spend all day doing the Leggo thing. You'll also have fresh salmon for dinner. Now isn't that a win-win for everyone?

Heck, if I can get through this assembly, surely I can restore the real thing.

I think it would be cheaper than the Lego version. Those damn Legos are expensive.

Everyone but Justin.... Craig needs to be working on his interior!

Your real thing doesn't match the illustration, look behind the white piece on the front--yours is not red behind the white piece.

It is possible that the page shown represents the next step, which includes adding a lot of items behind the white piece. Study the pic carefully vs the item especially in the front. The pic has more pieces added.
That was step 25. We're now on 82 of 115.
