I think I am cursed or something

Ok, been really great weather here and all I want to do is get the Mustang back on the road but if there could possibily be an issue on putting the motor back in we've had it plus decided to fix a few minor transmission problems while we were at it...in hindsight if I would have just let it keep up with a minor leak we'd already be on the road.

Well, the transmission was supposed to go back in today after waiting five days for O'Reilly's to send the new torque converter. Sure enough...they sent the wrong part. So it went back to O'Reilly's but have to wait a minimum of another 3 days for them to ship it from TN. We asked about rush shipping but they wanted $102 for that so thanks we'll wait.

The weather looks like it is going to be near perfect again this weekend and where will the Mustang be? Sitting on jack stands.

Sorry just had to vent, getting very frustrated at this point and starting to think I am cursed or something.

I hear ya, good weather keeps me from tearing mine apart to work on it. A couple months ago I had the seats out on some nice days and it sucked. Just keep the thought of when you get finished how good it will be.

Yeah, at least when it's done not only will I have the fairly decent horsepower boast but I won't have a minor transmission leak any more either.

The winters here are pretty much non-existent so should have some good cruising weather for a while. Without A/C August is the month around here that I don't feel like driving it often. Actually it's not bad unless you have to park on a surface lot somewhere. If you leave the shaded garage, roll down both windows, etc it isn't too bad but God help you if you park on an uncovered surface lot for an hour and then have to go somewhere.

but you're getting there!

Early model car = frustration, and parts stores and waiting for the parts, and the anticipation of getting the correct parts = frustration! lol But all in all, it always seems to work out, right Rusty! I'm right, right! :dumas Im so excited for you~ my frustration is just that I'm always stuck these days watching my 20month old granddaughter, I love her dearly, but heck, I need to do some physical work and get my other hedder on!!!!! :expl I feel better now! See, I know how you must feel!

This who engine thing has been one frustration after another. We'll get there but dang...between fighting the flu and numerous other set backs it sure gets frustrating sometimes.

What I need to do with this nice delay is try to find someone that wants to buy the distributor and plug wires that wouldn't fit and then put the proceeds towards buying a petronix set up for my stock one...being patient is not one of my known characteristics at times but often these "set backs" work out for the best in the long run.

Rusty,

If all you are waiting on is the TQ converter..... you can install the engine w/o it and then stab the tranny once the converter arrives.

It is easier to install the engine/trans. as a package deal, but it's not absolutely necessary.

The motor is actually in...long story, master cylinder "issues" we had are also resolved along with several other issues we had along the way.

We just need to put the transmission back in then get it fired up for break in / time / tune, etc.

Well I'll be darned....O'Reilly's just called and the converter is in after only two days. Guess they figured out that they bleeped up and someone got a fire under em...well that or they just shipped me the wrong part again quickly since we haven't picked it up to verify it's correct this time as yet. :rofl

If all goes well... after this ordeal I ain't holding my breath, but might have her back on the road in time for what looks like it might be nice weather this weekend....might have to make the local street meet on Saturday.

I am now convinced I need a second classic for times like this. Now if I could just convince the wife :conf
