We had an specialist electical engineer from Iceland working on one of our drilling rigs for recently. We got chatting about old cars and he was a big muscle car fan. He has restored a 1972 AMC Javelin and a Chevy Truck.

Here is a link to his car club. They have 950 members and some interesting cars and a few very nice mustangs.

As you can see they posted some pics of my car on the homepage. If you click on the English flag in the top right for english.

There's alot of American vintage cars for a country with only 320, 000 people.

Yes , but Iceland is a rich country as was Ireland !!
Alot of American muscle went to the scandinavic countries too.
I know a Danish dude who has a 67 390 GTA convertible.

I was asking about why there are so many and it is also atributed to the US army having a base there at one stage.

Yes , thats pobably the cause .
I live nearby ( 25km) Kleine Brogel , an NATO airbase where also americans are stationed.
This airbase is also known for storing nuclear warheads.
I have been at that base for 1 year and had to do some surveillance at the planes and munition depots.(1979)

Some very nice rides. I lived for a while in the northern US. I was amazed when I got there at the amount of time & energy in the fantastic rides they had. 111 inches of snow later, I understood when the work got done :thu.

I guessing it's the same in Iceland.
