Lego Mustang Build

if it takes you more than a day, you are doing it wrong....what else do you have to spend your time on? Quite the intricate build out!

look what my kid sent me today!

I sense a race coming along... I've got my Lego kit waiting on the counter. Didn't want to start building before my dad (kb3) got started, had to give the old man a fair start! Now just to see if I can swap out the white stripes with matte black ones... and trim down the rear to better represent a '65!

I like it. I would need to make it a coupe and red with black stripes! Fun to watch you guys build em though

So Ken mentioned changing a few things on his build.

There's no way I can paint over those stripes on the thing nor change the hood scoop but.....

The valve covers are a light blue...should I paint them silver to more match my chrome covers.....realizing the "powered by Ford" decal is that same blue?

I was also going to paint the shifter silver and cut off the "T" and paint the ball on the end white.

Silly things I know but should I change the Lego kit of keep it stock?

I think modifying it is just fine. I don't think it is going to hold great resale value in the future. As a note on the white hood/roof stripes, you can get online and order bricks individually from Lego in the correct color. I will probably do that, as I am not a fan of the white Shelby stripes nor the hood scoop. Customizing these are much cheaper than the real thing!

It's a pain to go through and search for the pieces, but LEGO has a site where you can buy individual bricks as kb3 mentioned: Pick-a-brick

It's gonna be quite pricey to replace all the blue bricks with purple ones, but I've gotta do it to make sure it matches Kona!

I'll be using this site to swap out the white stripes with black ones!

I'm going to build as they show and customize along the way if I can and also make notes of parts I may want to switch out.
I'll order the parts after the build.

Right now I DID paint the rocker covers (chrome) and I'm painting the plug wires (red)....need to order another set of plug wires and the blocks they attach to....as it is now it looks like a 4 cylinder wire set.

Oh and shouldn't you be in CLASS!!!

School is over for me now Mike, I'm just relaxing (at work) waiting for graduation to roll around!

And I am in class, I'm teaching all you old guys how it's done.
