According to the following site (http://www.mustangdecoder.com/instructions.html) Mustangs had some kind of trick to identifying some things about it using the VIN if you didn't have the warranty plate.
Fred had the DS door replaced from a 66 and no warranty plate anywhere. So I type in the VIN and get the following information.
5-1965
R-San Jose
0Y-code not found
C-289 2v V8
(Remaining numbers are just the unit number)
The main reason I ask is because I am trying to figure out the color Fred was originally, Fred's interior was blue as you can tell from the photographs on the build thread and as I was removing the radio I noticed the white paint in this photograph.
In this photograph you can see that the cowl side panel is also painted white.
I had originally thought it was silver blue metallic only because of the Y in the VIN and because I wanted to be cool like Mark................
