low vacuum, stick with power or switch to manual brakes???

Timing is everything lol. That would have been extremely generous of you Seller I really appreciate it. I tend to move quickly when I've made up my mind. I have been half expecting to be forced to make this change since I got the motor.
 
Rhoads lifters aren't as noisy as solid lifters, and nowhere near as high maintenance. I have them and love them, and Craig has even commented that they aren't as loud as he expected. Keep in mind, cheap headers will increase the noise in the engine bay.

I went from a Comp Cams XE268H to a Magnum 280H with Rhoads lifters. The 280H has more valve overlap, but it still makes more usable power under 3k than the 268H ever did. With more cubes than I have and some tuning, I bet you'd see 12-14" @ idle with the XE294H and Rhoads lifters.
