The wife has been after me to go do some gambling so today we figured was the day to go. I have been wanting to meet Mod9 and it was a good chance to do it. Got to Dubuque around 11:00 this morning and dropped the wife off and called Gary. He said come on out that they were working on the small block car. When I showed up him and 2 friends had just lifted the engine out of the car to install the new 427 stroker. We talked for about an hour all the while they kept working. I told him I had to go meet the wife for a bite to eat and do some gambling. At that he told me to stop back when I was done so I agreed. The wife and I got back at around 3:30 and you would not believe it but they had the new engine in the car and running. Man does that engine sound sweet. Gary wanted to take the car for a test ride and asked if I wanted to go along. Man I jumped at that chance. We went for about a 5 mile ride down highway 61 and he turned around to head home. We got rolling in second gear and he nailed it. The rear tires just went up in smoke. Backed out of it and said thats enough. When we got back to his shop we talked for about 45 minutes. Took me and showed me his R code. It is in another garage stall. He has the transmission out of it right now to install a new TKO 600 in it. Man what a sharp car that is going to be when finished. He told me about another 5 weeks and it should be done. Also has to install the front interior and has some gauge problems to fix. He also told me come back anytime and the next time I can take both cars for a ride. Man I can hardly wait. Was great meeting Gary and I want to tell you he is a very down to earth guy.
