Meet our next Canine Companions for Independence puppy; PJ III

How cruel can you get, letting that poor puppy sleep on a cold tile floor without a blanket...shame on you!

PJ has arrived and sleep has gone bye bye!

Yep and the boys puppy came home with us last Thursday so I feel your pain Mark.

Buster woke me up to go potty about midnight then decided it was play time for about 45 minutes, LOL!

He woke up a second time about 3:30 a.m. but thankfully that time he went outside for a potty break and then went right back to sleep in his box.

Buster won't sleep on anything except the tile or wood floor...it's hot out and he prefers the cool floor to keep his belly from getting hot.

The other male pups ate like that. This female is the opposite. She takes her time and only eats till she's full or tired! I have yet to get her to eat a full 3 cups in a day. PJ was the largest in the litter too!

Buster eats more like a shark on a feeding frenzy when you put food in his bowl, LOL!

He always acts hungry. We've been feeding him once morning, once around noon and once later afternoon....give him a smaller scoop each time....maybe a handful or a little more. He's a little pig. ::)

At least you know he'll respond to food during training!!

I had a yellow lab once that, I kid you not, could eat a whole bowl of food in less than 30 seconds. I would invite friends over and bet them beers over the speed at which he inhaled....never chewed the food.

you guys make me want to go get a new lab pup.....if it wasn't for the first 7 years of puppy hood and destroying everything they see, I probably would!

Here's PJ doing some military push ups!

She's already determined to become a blue cape dog!

Took PJ into town to let all of our friends meet her before we head to Ames. The folks in Council Grove have been very supportive and are always happy to help train/socialize the pups. PJ was at the hardware store, laundromat, grocery store and the bank.

After a couple hours of socializing, she spent the rest of the day...just like this!

Buster likes to sleep like that also.

Finally got a picture of the little devil when he was awake. Usually the only time I can get him to sit still long enough is if he's eating or sleeping. But we were outside yesterday playing and taking a short walk after work and that tired him out enough to sit still for a minute.

A panting dog makes for a happy owner! It's really tough to get good puppy pics. Their attention span is way too short.

Yes it is.

He'll play with one chew toy for a couple of minutes then get bored with it and move on to another. If he's awake he's pretty much chewing on something, toy or me or pretty much anything that he can get his mouth around. He even attacked a leaf yesterday and chewed on it for a couple minutes...silly dog.

Holy crap, 16 months have come and gone and it's almost time to turn PJ in for advanced training! I wish I could say I'm really optimistic about her chances of making it through advanced training. I guess time will tell. We're taking a short break and will get the next pup sometime early next year. I'm hoping for a golden this time...supposedly more of a training challenge.

Anyway, here's PJ's goodbye video, set to one of my favorite songs.
