she doesn't do that too often ( guess it's the fear of a good beatdown, ha! :char) but i guess with us moping around lost for the past couple weeks, she said "enough is enough, this house isn't right, we're getting a puppy..."

were supposed to go look at this little girl & little boy tomorrow...

Steve,
How cool! Personally, though you will always have a soft spot for your previous pup, getting a new one will definately help the cure.

So are you going for just one or two? Need to know how many puppy toys I need to wrap up. :thu

Nice looking Steve, what breed are they. Kinda looks like American bulldog?

oh no, it will only be one. thats about all i can handle at one time as far as training... also found out over the years that if you do decide on two, get one & get it housebroke/trained etc. then when you bring another in, the first will help with the training. kinda like kids, whatever the older one does, the younger will have to copycat...

they are actually "olde english bulldogges". really similar to the american, but have been bred to what the regular english bulldog was 100 yrs ago. wayyy less health problems than what you deal with on the regular modern english bulldogs. the breeders have almost ruined them trying to get the noses crammed further back (breathing problems) & the high back end/ low front creates alot of issues too. in the 8 yrs i had my boy we just lost, all we had to deal with until he got sick this last time was a recurring ear infection in the solid brown ear. rarely did the spotted ear have a problem.

Happy to see you adding one to the family. Our new pup is 12 weeks old today. He almost sleeps through the night!

these are about the same age, born july 22. don't know if i mentioned it earlier, but three wks before our big boy got sick, we had to put the other one down too. she was 14, blind & deaf.

Dang Steve, really sorry to that news too. You really deserve a turnaround.

Get two - delayed is good. Our two German Shephards are inseperable and they keep each other company when we're gone for the day.

That's been our experience too..until our last puppy! She's just over a year old now and STILL isn't completely house broken. The only thing she learned from the older dog (who not only is house broken many years past, but is EXCELLENT about it!), is how to bark at everything/everybody, and how to get into the garbage when no one's looking. Basically all she's learned is all of the older dog's bad habits! Our older dog, almost 9 years old, is a SPCA rescue 100% pure mutt. The youngster is an AKC Brittany (my fourth). The wife says she'd have killed the youngster by now if she wasn't so damn cute! She's also the only dog I've ever had that literally glares at you!

So sorry about your loss. When we got our oldest dog the wife had actually gotten a Lab/Dalmatian mix from the SPCA several days before. When had to have her put down after several years due to illness.

Good luck with whichever you decide on.

it is the little girl!! we will pick her up officially next weekend. have a few more pics i'll post up later. thought it was gonna be a great day till i got back home, then "my luck" struck again....geez it's getting old....

Congrats!

BTW, after looking back at the pics you posted I took a close look on the faces of all the dogs. This is what they looked like:

Mom's face: Don't you glare at me!
Dad's face: Keep it up, I'm gonna bitch slap ya!
Son's face: Oh jeez, dad's getting crap from Mom again!
Daughter's face: If you jump in on Dad's side I'll make you regret it!

LOL

yeah, that sounds about right!

well... got home yesterday afternoon & had a letter here from the codes dept. our little community was recently dissolved & incorporated into metro nashville. the a$$ holes in the subdivision behind me complained for years after the garage was approved & built because they didn't like to look at it. our small city finally told them after years to drop it, they didn't want to hear about it any more, there was nothing wrong. they used to complain that i was throwing loud parties in there till 3am with a stereo cranked up etc. got so bad at one point that the law was even called at 8pm because i had cut a piece of metal about 2'x3' with an air shear (about two mins work, not much louder than a drill). i'm guessing they now think metro will do something about it so are starting up with the complaining. there is still a little mess i'm dealing with from the fire that i haven't been able to finish with all the "other" things that have happened. i also have one vehicle here that doesn't have current tags, which is a violation, but my neighbor has 3 without tags including a 40 ft motorhome. he didn't get a letter....
