My first attempt at cutting vinyl.

Kat, i think your list goes by active members. When you register, you are assigned a number in order, if you quit, that number stays with you regardless and is never duplicated. for instance, we have 1139 total members, but the last person to register is fordmanmike, and he is number 1340. That means we've lost 201 members either by their own free will or they got booted for lack of use. the 1969 thing must be a system issue... Sluggo is the first member, so he couldn't be number zero. Someone correct me if im wrong.
This is correct.

Sometimes these threads are like listening to a conversation at an old folks home. You start out with "good morning" and end up with "what's for dinner?"

Back to the topic. Nice work on the Vinyl, do you have stock images, scan them or digitize them yourself? I used to do computerized embroidery and we were able to do about anything you could draw, or had an image of.

Does your machine have a cutter to make die cut vinyl?

LMAO

I'm pretty handy in photoshop and illustrator. It's a mix. Been collecting some stuff, logos, etc and can take most any image and vectorize it in illustrator.

No die cutting. Plotter type cutter.

Had to make an adjustment to the feed roller on the cutter. It's working much better now. Been practicing a bit. Weeding (removing the unwanted vinyl) seems to be a bit of an art. Particularly challenging on small lettering on exibition vinyl.

My first two layer.

Today' s stuff. The small member number piece was a real pita to weed. Wound up reconfiguring it to be more production friendly.

Use a pair of long, real pointed, straight tweezers for weeding. I found that worked best when I was learning it several years ago at a shop I worked at in Az.

Also, watch the copyright infringement. Some companies don't even allow reproductions even for personal use unless permission is granted from them. Businesses doing decals/stickers/ and such will not touch logos unless they have a blanket letter on hand or specific permission for each job.

Your work is looking good.

The plan is to do mostly one off custom stuff. Logos are handy for practice. I certainly don't intend to sell anyone else's stuff.

I noticed that weeding seems a bit easier if you let the vinyl rest for awhile after cutting it. Not sure why that is.

I believe the vinyl actually separates when cut and left to rest a bit. We normally weeded them some time after cutting based on the job completion requirements. Doing things like you are, there may not be that option.
