My kidney and my Mustang

Thursday I will have my left kidney hooked back up to my bladder from a surgical mistake during the cancer removal in December. I will be out of work for at least a month and might just be able to finish the Mustang by the end of my leave. Most of the paint is complete now with the exception of the stripes and "HP 350" on the rocker areas. (I got tired of people thinking I didn't know it wasn't really a Shelby). The front valance and buckets need to be painted too. Thanks to the advice of Mustangers on the other site I have done a very good job painting her so far. The side vents are painted and cleared so I could do an article on how to restore them... my daughter dropped my Nikon so pictures are out for now with modern lenses. The 3 months of prep work before paint, day after day and going over the same places 5 or more times seems to have paid off. Is it me or do we all notice imperfections that will never go away? Some spots seem like they have a permanent hex. I hope do not drive anyone nuts over the weekend while I have nothing to do but sit in the hospital and use a lap top. W. White is such an easy color to paint by the way. The vents look awesome and took almost as much time as the car to paint and restore.

Good luck with your surgery and recovery, I know the home recovery is what drives me nuts. I've had a few surgeries that I was supposed to rest in bed, after a couple days I'd try to sneak out to the garage and my wife would bust me and chew me out...what good is being off work if I can't play?
Hope you get a lot accomplished but don't push yourself..the car will still be there.
Jon

Good luck and don't push yourself too hard when you get home. A little rest might do you some good.

Hope all goes well Mark. Like the others said, give yourself some time to rest. I know its not easy to do but will be for the best.

So while you're recooping don't go all Fordude on us and post all those jokes and naked women pics.....okay you can post the women pics. :craz

Good luck with the surgery tomorrow Mark, I'll send some positive thoughts your way.

Good luck with the surgery Mark.

Can't wait to see pictures of that car once you have it done. (and the fold down seat ;) )

My Kidney is hooked up.

The first Surgeon went in through my belly button to have look Scopicly. The Ureter was indeed completely severed and at on time was flapping around but not anymore. The ureter had adhered (like adhesions) to every internal part it came to rest on. Down to the middle and back up like a "V" shape. It was long and very usable. The talent of that surgeon detached it fro every organ and directed it downward towards the Bladder where the Urologist could grab it through a "C" section and re-attach it to a fresh part of my bladder. The Naphrostomy Tube was removed from my Kidney leaving a hole that would drain into my abdomen and of course the working tube that went to my bladder. So a hand pressure drain pump tube was put into my abdomen (like an outboard boat motor prime bulb) This tube was put in through the old Laparoscopic scar on my left (so I literally have no new scars) and the old "C" section was cleaned up so I can apply Plastic Surgeon Balm (doesn't matter anyway , it is only 2 inches from my business) I do not wear Speedos but if I did you would still not see it.....oh.....you would see "it" but you would not see the scar ,TMI.

So, No Cancer.
23 pounds lighter and almost have a 6 pack again.
The only visible scar is the size if a pencil eraser.
...and the rest of my life with my family.

That is great news to say the least. Glad to hear that everything went back together the way that is suppose to be. fd

Thanks Mustang friends. I should have stated no more Cancer. He had an opportunity to look again while fixing things from the Cancer removal in December. A second look sure ir re-assuring. In 2 weeks I will be able to have 2 more full weeks on the Mustang full time. I want to start sooner but know it is smart to relax and heal.
