My wife and I have been.....

Oh yes, for sure. When we test rode it before buying, I noticed the tires were low. It still went good and I knew it would be better. Got it home and checked. The front had 10 lbs. and both rear had 15 lbs. That was the first fix, all three up to the recommended 50 psi. Soooooo much better.

This is really working out good as we both enjoy it and can feel the muscles we have not used for a while. The position of riding uses more muscles than one would expect. Funny though, the wife has been doing an exercise bike workout twice a week. I think she could out do me right now......

The seats are adjustable for and aft. That one was loose when the pic was taken. The adjuster is a large wing nut and a clamp, not sliders like a car. Hmmmmm, a mod......

Pete, those seats look a lot like one that is used on some exercise equipment. When I was still in graduate school (1990), a partner and I developed and tried to market a recumbent stepper. We bought a highback version of a similar seat and there were seat tracks available that were a direct bolt-on. I'll try to see if I can find a source. If I can, I'll send you a PM.

Here's a pic of what we called the Aerodrive. The resistance was generated by blades attached to the wheel inside the shroud, and we funneled some air off the wheel, through the frame, and to the airflow meter that is housed in that plastic box attached to the right handle. We never got it off the ground, but it was a popular fixture in a local fitness center for several years, and I recently sold it to another fitness center in another state.

Turn that fan 90*, add some wheels and a rudder and Pete's got himself a cool old fart mobile.

Just to update you bums on the three wheeled old fart mobile, we are riding it between 6 and 11 miles per day. We do 1 to 2 miles at a setting with numerous rides thru the day and evening.

I have lost about 9-10 lbs and the wife has lost 7-8 lbs in the three weeks we have been riding. I have taken up one notch in my belt and I really notice a difference in my legs. I do still get a bit winded but it is improving. Wife's clothes fit her looser for sure and she can tell a difference in her muscles. We are pleased that this is working for us and it is not hard for us to keep a program going.

You guys may laugh but since retiring, we got a bit lazy and gained some. It just creeps up on you. Get rid of the excess while you are young cuz it is a bitch to drop the weight as you get older.......

Congrats Pete! Pretty soon you guys will be pulling the mustang behind the trike for resistance....
:toot :toot I can see it now. Maybe you can work your way up to the rv. Way to go pete. Thats awesome!

Well, since you got that cycle-thing, you haven't been over here drinking up all of my Wattles. You think that might have been a contributer? Ya think?

I may have to look into the trike thing. It may be the only way to get my wife involved in exercise!

This rig is good as long as the ground has no large hills. Our area is pretty flat and we have done some inclines. It is not like riding a regular bike in hills. Neither of us are great on exercising and when I mentioned this, my wife really liked the idea. We do a lot of things together so it works with the idea too. We searched for a while and this was the only unit that peaked our exercising interest. I was not sure how much it would effect the stomach but it seems to do ok. We do nothing else than walking the dog tree or four times a day.

If you are serious, they are pricey so I suggest looking for a used one in the three speed style. I have seen several around the southeast area for sale.

This thread is worthless without pics, especially mankini pics.

I must be sleep typing :yikes

Way to go! Keep it up as a regular part of your routine, and you'll be all set to go.

I am old enough not to give rat's ass how groovy I look riding my bicycle anymore...

If you use the word "groovy", you don't have to actually say anything about being old...

Once you get a few more weeks of practice you can take that thing out and hire yourself as Trike-Taxi, you retired folks come up with some of the best jobs :cool

Bring your butt up here and I can hook you up with a company that has been pretty successful in the past couple years. http://www.raleighrickshaw.com/ But you have to watch out for the drunks driving around you. And stuff like rocks. :bike (sorry, just had to use that one in a thread about bikes that didn't involve Jeremy.
