I think I'll go out on a limb and declare my windshield reinstallation a success. I had a severe leak, and had ruled out the cowl as the source. I pulled out the windshield and rear window to install my new headliner (not completely finished yet, so no pictures). I managed to get the glass back in and sealed before the big rainstorm a few weeks ago (2.5 inches of rain in one day--that's a LOT for San Jose). After the rain stopped, I found just a little bit of dampness on the carpet and guessed that it may have been leaking around the molding clips, which I installed after the glass and gasket. I added more sealer around the clips, and after the next rainstorm I didn't see any leakage. :kaid
The rear window is installed with no sealant until I get the rust issue fixed. I duct taped aluminum foil around the perimeter of the glass to keep it from leaking.
