New McLeod Transmission

I talked to a friend of mine that is down at the PRI show tonight. He looked up the McLeod booth for me to see what the new 5 speed looks like. In talking to one of the McLeod reps it sonds like the tranny will not be out until late spring. From what he said they are not making a direct toploader replacement. There will be 2 basic models. One will be a GM size replacement and the other will be a Mopar replacement. That is as far as overall dimensions. In order for this to work on a Ford it sounds like the front of the tranny where it bolts onto the bellhousing is going to be replaceable. So they will simply put a toploader bolt pattern on the GM or Mopar tranny and the Ford guys will have to adaped. There will be 2 different first gear options. You can get either a 2.95 or 2.66 first gear. And it sounds like list price is going to be $2295. My buddy got some paperwork on them that he is going to get me when he gets back.

Are you thinking of going this route? I'd be interested in hearing your opinions on it, if you do. McCleod generally makes very high quality products.

Yeah that what I am looking at. Was considering an automatic but for one to fit behind a big block was around $3200. So now i am looking at a McLeod 5 speed. I will not need it until late summer if I get that far along.
