New pony in the corral *new pics*

Well, the wife decided that she wanted to drive a classic mustang...she used to have a fox body, but we parted it out to put the motor and tranny into my fastback. Plus, she got tired of dealing with the People's Repulik of Kalifornia's smog laws. She found one down in Sacramento that looked good from the ad. It's a 65 coupe with a 289 and automatic. So, we roadtripped down to take a look at it today. We met Johnpro at the guy's shop -- he has a mustang shop. When we arrived, he was putting on a new set of wheel cylinders and new brakes all around. Overall, it's in pretty decent shape. It's got a little cancer around the DS rear wheelwell, and a small dent in the rear right quarter panel...and sometime it'll need a new paint job. The interior is pretty good, and he threw in a new set of carpets -- the existing carpet doesn't look too bad. It's been rewired to a 66 instrument cluster.

We got home after dark, so here are the pics that he had in the ad -- more pics to follow...

New pony in the corral

Alright that is great to hear. But I do have to agree with Sluggo. We need better pics. That will be a nice driver for the SWMBO. A long time ago my Mom had a 66 coupe, 289 2V and a C4. I drove it while the engine in my coupe was being rebuilt. It was a great little car. fd

Nice car. Is it a San Jose special? Are you going to keep the c4 in or upgrade to an AOD?

OK...Sabrina took a couple more pics and as requested they're bigger. Don't mind the cardboard with the oil stains under the car...I just put that there since there's a slight leak in the tranny. The stains that you can see are old. In the middle pic, you can see the small dent in rear quarter...not too big. In the final pic, there's actually two blue mustangs in it...can you spot the second?

I like the color

I love those wheels on that coupe...it just works.

And the other Mustang is looking on like he sees a new friend.

It was fun checking out the car, Rob. We really have to sit down, one of these days, and get caught up.

Congrats on the car. It's definitely a keeper!
