NewB with a New to Me 65

Wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I have been a Mustang fanatic my whole life. My first car was a 69 coupe and I have had Mustangs every since. I currently own three Fox Body’s, 84 GT Turbo, 85 Convertible, and an 86. I also have a wana be Mustang an 83 EXP.
Anyway as of this week I am now the proud new owner of a 65 Mustang. I’ve always wanted one and lucked up on this one. My cousin told me that he had it and that it has been sitting in his field for the past 15 years. He told me that he was going to have someone come and get it to send it to the scrap yard. I asked if I could come look at it and he said that would be fine. I was expecting a pile of junk and was greatly surprised to find this! I asked how much he thought he would get for it in scrap and he said $400 (probably a little on the high side) so I gave him $400 then went and got my trailer and haled it home!!!
It needs total restoration. Both quarter panels, bottom of the doors, and the floor pan is rusted pretty good but the rest of the car is very solid. It has the original C code 289 in it and is still in mostly original shape although it was originally a burgundy car and didn’t come with the pony interior and someone did something funky with the rear leaf springs. I guess it's not so original then. lol
I’m not 100% sure what I’m going to do with her yet but I’m thinking about leaving her mostly stock looking and modifying the drive train and suspension to make a driver out of her. Kind of a show and go car. I am currently in the middle of doing a full restomod on my 84 GT Turbo and will finish her before I get started on the 65 so I have some thinking time.
Glad to be a part of this site. I will post updates once I get to moving on her.

Spent the evening cleaning up the many years worth of dirt in the 65 today. There was some vintage dirt in there for sure. With a little Armorall and allot of elbow grease it cleaned up pretty well. Too bad the rust on the outside won’t just buff out.

Welcome to the fix. That looks like a great deal on the 65.

I like all the foxes too. Nice stable you have going there. Got any more pictures of them?

Welcome rkuhn - I'm the guy who recommended Stangfix when you asked on FourEyedPride. This site may not have the huge database of some "other" sites mentioned, but ask away - a very knowledgable group here.... :thum

Just the word politics is brutal to me. lol I will be sure to stay clear of that.

Wow, I had the 82 EXP in the Silver and black auto expo colors with the Euro wheels. Loved it. I would love to have one again to commute in! Comfortable, great mpg and easy to work on!

Oh, Welcome aboard!!!!!

Welcome to our other home for many of us. Just don't have your way with any of Midlife's sheep. Or at least don't brag about it.
