Ok, I whipped out the 9-inch this morning...

I'll pull the cover off tomorrow and see what's in there. I am about a 5 hour drive from St Louie...

I'm about 4-1/2 hours. If this all works and you're game, maybe we could meet somewhere in Illinois for lunch one weekend. I might even be able to talk Jeremy and Skip into a road trip??? :confu Whatcha think guys?

We'll work on the details. I'll make things right for you...

I just wish this Currie was a little narrower. Got the axles you need for a drag car, and I know this great "American Badass" welder here that could probably put a set of leaf brackets on the housing.............

well it is a 28 spline, sorry. I pulled the cover off and pulled out one axle to count the splines. It does look pretty fresh in there but 28 for sure. bummer.

Bob, I hope your wife is not disappointed with you taking out your 9 inch and replacing it with something smaller.

T-Bird housing has quad shock mounting slightly different than Mustang (PITA), and Mark VII housing lacks quad shocks - That's why I want a Mustang housing.

For reference , Mustang 8.8 axle lengths:
Mustang 79-93 29.16"
Mustang 94-98 (same as T-Bird/Cougar) 29.91"
SVO/(Lincoln MarkVII/Cont) 30.41"
Mustang 99-04 30.69"
Mustang 2005-10 32.72"

I stand corrected, I thought the quad shock mounts where use one the LSC as well... the Mustang 5.0 tech reference performance handbook even states the quad shock arrangements vary... I did not know that. I also thought the LSC stuff was interchangable... Thanks for the clarification....

NO, in this case 28 spline is GOOD - that's what I need, since I'm running the SVO/Lincoln axles :thu. I've got no plans to drag race this car so 28 will be fine! I listed the Currie on craigslist this morning - I think it should move pretty quick, and when it does, I'm definitely interested in your rear end! (Wait, that didn't sound right :hide)

No worries - it all get VERY confusing!!! The rearend combo Saleen used came from the Ford Racing catalog, and was not OEM on any production vehicle. Lots of confusion on the late-model boards over axle lengths too.

Bob,
You just want to trade? I don't have a housing or axles. I can get it narrowed and pads welded on cheaper than buying a whole rear....
