EXTREME OVAL AIR CLEANER 15" & K&N SERVICE KIT # 5023-K : eBay Motors (item 330424126843 end time May-14-10 17:28:12 PDT)

Been looking for a nice oval cleaner,What do ya guys think? I like it cause it actually looks good and should flow more than any of the others. Anyone have any idea if it will fit under the hood of my 69 mach1 with a weiand stealth and carb spacer? Im thinkin of getting a old style "mustang" letter decal and putting it on th efront if I get it.

Sounds good to me . Just make a measurement of how much space you have on top of your caburator.

The K&N Flow-Top lids like that are a proven HP killer...if I ran one, I'd block it off on the inside and just have it for looks. I'm not a fan of the whole thing, but it's kinda neat...def. not ordinary. Dunno about it fitting, but then again, the 67+ cars have a lot more room under the hood.

Why does the link work on other sites but not here? The lids that flow air cost HP? Can someone explain please? Is it cause it causes turbulance cause Im sure it flows more.

Yep. Someone (Sherman or Dave Vizard?) dyno tested them and found out that the air going into the carb had all sorts of weird turbulence that cost quite a bit of HP.

I had one similar, except it had a solid aluminum top (you can see part of it on my old engine in the sig). It looked and worked great.

I tested the 2 1/4" tall x14" D K&N filter w/ extreme lid back in 05 on a chassis dyno. I've posted the results a few times and if memory serves me, there was NO discernible diff between no filter, paper filter and the K&N. The only advantage to the K&N (from my test) is that you never need to buy one again.

When they dyno tuned my car I ran a Ford Racing oval cleaner and they said it was robbing some HP and suggested I at least change the filter to a K&N. I ended up finding a pretty Effin sweet deal on a K&N round filter with the extreme lid. I have not had any issues with running it.
