Part number gods?

Hi All,

When i picked up my used 351 cleveland the guy threw in a few boxes of parts. One part was an almost new looking water pump. It doesn't match up to my cleveland so I have no idea what it goes to. The part number is : E9AE 8505 BA. I'm not sure if it is even a ford number but I can tell you that I yahoo'd it, google'd it, and bing'd it with no luck. Anyone have any ideas as to what the application to this part number is?

It's a high performance water pump that fits the following vehicles.

1983-1983 Ford Country Squire
1979-1983 Ford LTD
1990-1991 Ford LTD Crown Victoria
1983-1983 Ford Thunderbird
1990-1990 Lincoln Town Car
1983-1983 Mercury Cougar
1983-1991 Mercury Grand Marquis

Not exactly sure what engines came with the previously listed vehicles but thought it would help guide your search in the right direction.
 
How did you figure out that it's a high performance unit? Looks like a standard 1989 Ford partnumber to me.

If it's really for a crown vic, etc., it will be std rotation for a serpentine setup.

I recently bought a new pump for my Cleveland and can give you the part number tomorrow because the paper work is at my work.
It is a pump that my motor builder wanted me to buy. Snout is on the driver's side which I prefer. PM me if I forget to post my reply to this thread.

Come again? There's standard rotation for serpentine? Any ford serpentine setup I've seen had reverse turn. This is actually something I've been looking for, because my current setup is serpentine with a reverse turn water-pump, but it's terrible. I want to keep the serpentine, but go standard turn, but couldn't find the right pulley (without getting a full March setup)

Pete is also running a standard rotation serpentine setup, but his pulley is designed for reverse turn, so it's a smooth surface, designed for the outside of the belt to ride along it, but he has (had?) it with the inside of the belt going around it. He complained about minor slipping. If there's a fix out there for me, I'd be insanely happy.

yep, it came on the "big cars" (4 door lincolns, the crown vics, etc.) and most/all trucks and vans. I have a complete setup sitting on the Crown Vic motor out front and part of a set from the first 5.0 I had.

It looks quite a bit different from the reverse rotation setup, belt tensioner is in a different spot, all the accessories are in a different spot, yadda yadda. To tell you the truth, I'm almost tempted to steal the whole shebang and slap it on the 66. :rofl

Seems like pics might be useful...I'll try to snap some in the next few days.
 
I would appreciate pics very much! I would prefer tension be supplied just by adjusting the alternator, like the original setup, just with serpentine pulleys instead of v-belts. If it's possible.

I have a water pump on the motor that spins fine. I was just given this water pump with the motor and it looks almost new so I wanted to get some information on it and sell it as it does me absolutely no good.
 
Getting an entire setup is what you need to do to get the standard rotation. Water pump depth, alt. spacers, crank pully and harmonic balancer are all set for that. I never found a pulley for the water pump.

The last '66 I had used an '85 Linc. TC 5.0. It had two serpentine belts with normal rotation.

IOW, taking the setup I have right now (early Serpentine setups from the Fox, but without PS or AC to force the belt to wrap around the wp appropriately) and throwing on a standard turn timing chain cover/waterpump and BigCar pulley is not going to solve my woes, yes?

Hrm, guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and go back to all VBelt, or get the March Setup. What I have on my car right now is simply unacceptable. It's ugly, there's no way to tighten or losen the belt, and there is very little contact between the belt and waterpump.

That is what I found. If I ever add A/C, I will change the flow of the water pump. I checked several engines and none had the correct offset of the pulley combination. It might be out there as I have limited yards to look at. I compared a lot of things on cars at shows and found nothing. March is to pricey to me. As mine is now, it uses an early 5.0 belt adjuster between the alt. and the water pump. It will squeal a bit if I get on it real hard. I also could get an A/C eliminator pulley and run the belt and water pump reversed. That is the cheapest way I have found.

Yeah I've considered the A/C eliminator thing, but I just can't get around the idea of having a pulley over there taking up so much space that does nothing. One of the reasons I hate my current setup is the bulk of the bracketry and the tensioner pulley.

I might just end up going with dual V-Belts. Then if I ever choose to add AC, I'll take the ALT back to 1 pulley and have 1 pulley for the alt, 1 for the A/C.

I looked into V belts and ran into problems because of the drivers side water pump hose...................
 
OK.....so forget what I have said and start looking..........lol

Just joking. I wish someone would find an easier way/less costly. The lower pulley for V belts is where I found the difficulty. There may be a setup but I missed it.
