I got nostalgic reading the December car of the month thread when Sluggo posted his Eleanor-like Mach 1 from the past. I decided to dig out some old photo's and share them. Maybe the rest of us will too...
Here is my 1st car, a 67 Mustang I bought when I was 15.
Here it is after my dad, my (now) brother-in-law and I fixed it up.
I grew up in the frozen Northern tundra of the Chicagoland area where salt was used to melt the ice on the roads. I aquired several "beaters" to drive in the winter after using my 1st car as a daily driver for several years.
Here is a shot of the first 3 cars I owned all together, a 67 Hardtop (1st car), 67 FB, (second car) and my 72 Torino which became my daily driver
The 67 FB got wrecked (totalled) by my couzin and the Torino eventually died a slow death with around 215,000 miles on it. I bought a 1980 Monza Spyder to be my daily driver (I beat that poor car hard!)
I have had so many cars since it's not even funny but I will never forget the first one! I had it about 10 years. The 67 I have now was bought by a guy I worked at Caterpiller with. He found it at an auction. It was his wife's 1st car. He wanted to restore it but became impatient and offered me a wad of cash for my 67. I sold it to him and used the money as down payment on my 1st house and quickly bought his 67 for $650 and I have had it about 18 years now. It started out looking like this...
I never realized it would take so long to get it to this point but life happens!
let's see your guys (and gals) past
