nice! wish i could have dropped mine in as an assembled unit but seemed like too much to try & navigate by myself. you should be rolling soon!

But seriously, very nice work John. Glad to see you had plenty of local help.
 
Thanks for the compliments. Now onto that long list of little things I need to work on to make it drivable.

I'm fortunate enough to know some really cool guys out here. I paid them in Mountain Dew, Fritos, and bean dip. The weather was great and it was nice to have a clean 67 Chevelle and 73 Cuda 340/6pak in my driveway for the day.

Hi CrustyC, yes, I did have to modify the shift hole. Here are some before/after pics. You will note alignment of the trans and shifter changed, because the before picture was taken before I installed the headers. We had to move the motor a little to get good header clearance.

I cut metal from all 4 sides, but mostly the front and right. I installed the front shifter stop after the trans was secured. It was not necessary for me to notch the rear stop, oops. Looks like I have to trim a little more at the 11 o'clock position. Thanks for the foam padding/insulation. That was a great idea!

Ok. What is this magic foam you are using to seal the shifter opening?
 
thats about where i had to trim mine in the 69. took out about 1/2" on the right side around 3/4" at the top. i installed the shifter after installing the tranny, so needed to be able to access the front pair of bolts. good idea on the high density foam! i'm going to make a lower boot like the factory fox cars had to seal the hole up. good old piece of tire innertube works well for that.
