If it was $500-$800, it might (I say might) be a good deal, but no way at the price you are considering paying. Put the wallet down and walk away.
Wow, what a project! I wouldn't worry that it's a Chevy, all you have to do is order Mustang replacement sheet metal instead of Camaro sheet metal, and by the time you are done replacing all the rusted parts, you will have a rust free Mustang!
I'm in Tucson where $1500 would buy you a nice rust free Camaro shell, no way would you get anything over $500 here.
