Rack & Pinion?

I blew something in my power Unisteer R&P (oil all over the street, better than the driveway) today it's not a hose. The ? is, can I drive the car if I take the belt off the pump and not damage the rack anymore. I haven't had time yet to take a closer look but will layer today.

Ok, I got the car up on jack stands to see what happened and it seems the tie rod when in a certain possession is hitting one of the tubing lines. The line took all it could and cracked (small crack) so it should be an easy fix, not sure if it going to be easy figuring out why it getting hit.

I've read elsewhere about lowered cars hitting the rack. Have you called Unisteer? They have a lifetime warranty so they may be able to supply you with a new tube for free. My Unisteer pump (plastic part) developed a leak and they sent me a new pump w/o any hassle.

Yes I have been working with US for a year trying to resolve some issues. Last year something popped in the rack and I had no power, so that rack got exchanged. Since than I've had a issue with the rack chattering and now the split tubing. I spliced a new piece tubing in with a little different bend to hopefully get a bit more clearance, it's still pretty close. Their answer is send it in and we'll check it out which is fine but a lot of trouble. It will be sent to them after the car is put away for the winter.
My car does have 1" drop coils and I also took 1/2 of a coil off, so it is lowered and I'm not sure what they can do because of that. That end fitting just is not in the correct place. Now if they could move it up a 1/2" I think that would work. I'll have to talk to them about it.
Even with the problems, I like the system. I like the way it feel, drives and handles. Not sure if I would recommend it to anyone but they do have a good lifetime warranty and sooner or later it will get fixed.
