remodel time....house DONE!!!!

Seriously?
Our property taxes go up every year. And when we get a permit to remodel or any upgrades they reassess the value and raise the taxes.
No shi.... This blows my mind. Illinois is so screwed up our property values are stagnant or worse but they find a way to tax us more by raising the %'s used. If you follow the rules and do anything under a permit you had better believe the assessor will be by to jack the value (taxes).

California has prop 13. Which is they can't raise your property taxes more than 2% a year of the original purchased price.

The one good thing we have going for us in California, besides the weather, is Prop 13. Our property taxes are rated at 1% of the value of the home when you purchased it and can only go up by a maximum of 2% per year. Remodels can/will trigger an increase in property tax, but not the same as if it were a new purchase.

Of course every good thing in California is under attack, including Prop 13. The state is running out of tax income so they are looking at every possible revenue stream.
