Rigorous TX state inspection

What's the registration status of the car?

Sometimes you need to have the CHP inspect the lights and safety functions of the vehicle. And yes, you'd need to fix the parking brake.

NJ only check emissions now. Bald tires, faulty lights, or bad winshield wipers use to fail you. But they found out the state could save millions in time saved by not checking all those things, so now you just worry about emissions. And as far as classic cars(25years or older) go no inspection ever.
It sucks here in NY. We have Safety and Emissions. (no emissions on anything classic). I run a small repair facility and do state inspections. I'm not sure how NJ is saving money by not checking those things, are the inspection stations state run? NY just screws the shop doing inspections. If we do inspections according to the "book", it would take over an hour. For a $21 inspection, the garage sees about $13, that is if your $2500 state inspection computer is payed off....
