Sad News from Camachinist (Pat Mack)

Hi all,

Thanks for the kind words. It's been a long eight years and part of the reason why I haven't been as involved in the Mustang hobby as in the past.

August was a tough month, losing John, then my mom and then a good friend's mom a couple days later. Great reminder of how short and valuable life is.

If anyone is dealing with Alzheimer's and/or dementia in their family and wants someone to talk to who's been through it, I'll be happy to help and offer support. No one is alone in this.

Thanks again and I appreciate all the wonderful people who belong to this community. Take care.

Pat

Pat, I'm very sorry for your loss.

We lost my Grandma to Alzheimer's 10 years ago... My dad, who is 64 years old(!!!), has been living in a group home for the past year and a half with some form of dementia as well. In fact, the same group home/care facility that my Grandma lived and passed in.

I wouldn't wish these illnesses on my worst enemy. The only positive you can say, is with their passing, the fear and bewilderment are gone and you can KNOW that they are in a better place.

Take care,

Kim

I can't relate to the dementia but I lost my mom over 12 years ago to cancer, she was only 51. Fought it two years, still I feel for you and your family. We'll keep you all in our prayers.

Terrible news. Our prayers are out you and your family.

Alzheimers has affected my in-laws, so we're familiar with the difficulties, challenges, and heartbreak. We can totally relate.

Yep, the older we get, the more people we leave behind and carry their gifts on in our hearts and memories. As an only child, it's me and the cat now. I recall mom saying, in the decade or so prior to her stroke, that all her friends were 'disappearing' (to death). She lived a really healthy life until 80 and had some good days amongst the rest until nearly 90. Hope I do that well.

Thanks again for your thoughts and condolences, public and private. It means a lot.

Hopefully, in some small way, I can carry on a bit of the torch that John provided a shining example of here, sharing the gifts of knowledge and experience. One is never too old to share. Take care!

Pat
