Serpentine Setup

Im gona be running the serpentine setup that I got the car with but Ive encountered a problem with putting the brackets back on for the alterator. Theres 2 brackets, one that attaches to the heads and another that holds the alternator and tensioner. Didnt take a pic of how they looked before I took them off (should of). Attach is a pic of the brackets. the 2 brackets in question are the one on the left and the black one on the bottom. Also my serpentine set up is the one shown with the red belt.

The black bracket and the flatish plate above it are used to hold the AC and PS pump to the drivers side of the car. They won't be used for the alternator. I took off my 5.0 Alternator bracket long ago and can't rember 100% what it looked like but it seems to me it was longer than the bracket on the left side of your picture. Is that serpentine setup from a Mustang?

Yes it was on the car when i got it. And Ive seen the brackets in other pics before also. I believe AZpete had a similar bracket in one of the pics when I searched the forums for a serpentine belt thread. Heres a few pics from when it was on the car.

For the alternator you won't need the small one. You only need the large one on the left. IIRC on the top of the brackets, next to the upper alternator bolt is where the tensioner will bolt to. There should be 3 holes up there. 1 for the alternator, a larger hole for the bolt of the tensioner and a smaller hole that the stud on the tensioner will go into. The stud will hold the tenioner base in place. I don't know if this is much help but it is all I have. I wish I could send you a picture but I don't have one from back in the day. In fact, before I added the blower I got rid of the alternator bracket entirely and used a March Bracket. Not nearly as large and looks 100x better IMO.

those are the brackets for the 87-93 5.0 serpentine setup, i was going to use those but i decided to go with the same setup using march brackets and pulleys you i bought kit #30135 im sure you can just buy the seperate pieces that you want tho

That looks a lot like the March bracket. I assume it will work with the 5.0 brackets (AC/PS) since it lists 5.0 in the title to the ad. You may want to check with the seller before you buy to make sure it is compatible. The only thing that could be off is the spacers. The rest should bolt right up to your reverse rotation water pump. One other thing you may want to check on is if the brackets have a clear coat. Polishing those brackets would be a major PITA.

Here's a pic of the alt. bracket .I looked at the same bracket on e-bay.Ended up keeping the ford bracket .
They look ok once you paint them up.
