Shelby drop?

Okay, I am wondering how many of the stangers on here have done the infamous "Shelby" or Arning drop on their car? I am curious as to whether or not there is a majority of people that do this for better handling.

I'll start, I did this on my '66 when I replaced the front springs with 1" drop/gt springs. It is a pain in the arse to do, but dang sure worth it. Handles much better in the twisties. I did my own alignment at home and then took it to the shop and the guy said it was so close he wasn't going to change a thing and showed me a print out. I was happy! :) Now how about the fearless on here. :scar Do you tend to modify the hell out of your car or leave it as is?

I did it too!

Yes, I'm proud to say, YES!

mine has the drop too, I must say I didn't really notice a seat of the pants difference on the street but when the car is pushed to the limit, I think it does help. The roller perches were by far the biggest improvement but I did that after the drop.

Both Red and Shag are dropped. Yes for roller perches and at least idler arms. Here's Red's current stance with the drop:

My suspension mods were a great improvement: roller perches, 1" sway bar, Opentracker's beefed-up UCA's, drop springs. Phase 2 will upgrade the strut rods and install the vario-centric kit. Someday....

I got all you beat at 1.75" ... someone better not say they have 2 inches.
I got way more than two inches, oh wait... wrong thread :eek:mg

but seriously, my car sits LOW :vic

1" drop also. next are the roller perches and then the bushings of the LCA and then the ....a whole list to improve the suspension of my stang......Need a sponsor....

i dropped mine also. figured while i was changing springs, i might as well do a "free" modification while i was at it. a book i bought back in the early 80s had a page with the templates printed, so had those along with a couple new drill bits in the correct size out in the shop & just went at it.

I did the arning drop last year since I was replacing the control arms. Didn't notice much difference.

I just put in roller perches and cut the 620 springs done to get it lower. it goes to the alignment shop on Tuesday, so I will finally get it out this year.

Aren't milk crates wonderful?

Oh yeah. They were the perfect height for suspending my brake drums. I wanted to avoid removing them and bleeding the brakes.

As you know, crates have a million uses including: guitar amplifier stand, propane tank holder, and carry-all for record albums.

Every now and then SWMBO threatens to report me to Bezerkeley Farms and collect the $500 reward money.
