Steering issues

Friend has a 69 coupe, started having issues with the steering. Says it will turn left just fine nut when turning right its like he has no power assist. Then he says he heres a noise and it stops turning. Thoughts on direction to guide him?

My guess would be time for a control valve rebuild and fluid flush of the system.

I would do some reading here, if I remember correctly the control vavle being out of whack would cause that as Mach1Rider stated:

Unless you have 6+ mos. to wait for it to come back I wouldn't send it to Stanger, he does excellent work but is old school slow and doesn't respond often to emails or phone calls. I believe he's a one man shop and has health problems from time to time. My parts came back looking like new, painted for no extra charge but I had time to wait and did, more than 6 mos.

Any recommendations on a rebuilt or new steering box. Guy said he had someone look at the car today and asked me if I could get a price for a box for him.
