Test drive

Hoochie momma Leonie left on a note on the door :yah

Finally had decent weather (meaning dry roads) to take the 66 out for a test drive. Not sure if it was just that I haven't driven the car since last September or not, but holy guacamole, that thing scared the hell outta me today, in a good way of course!

I pulled the t-stat so I could get the last of the air bubbles out of the system. Ran fine, never above 180, mostly too cool since it's always had a great cooling system. It was just a short 12 mile run from the house to the highway and back. On the return I ran it up to check for vibrations and at half throttle nailed it. Took off like a rocket shot from pad 39-B! I sure do love it when the little 289 is running. Let's hope I can keep it together for a couple of years.

Sorry, no video since the cam corder was not charged and you simply cannot drive the car with one hand :steer

Very happy for you. :thu

Can't wait for that day to come for me and my 65. One of these days, I'll be able to get back at it.

Well Mark , I am happy for you. :yah :yah
It is a long time if your last ride was in september.
Take care and don't underestimate the power of your car in the beginning. :hide
It would be a shame you end up in a ditch on one of your first test drives. :steer
Have fun on the track . :yah

It sounded pretty nice in your startup video... I'll bet it was a fun ride, now take it easy so we can see some track film.

Congrats! I always enjoy those cool air blasts after a long winter! It always seems like its gotten more power over the winter.

Sorry Dale, but I'm not gonna drive down the 3 miles of gravel again just so you can see some video.
