Texas front plates....

While I was in Oregon for 2 years, I was required to have a front plate, but me being me, I said :bird and took my chances.

I won.....luckily.

Do you Texas guys HAVE TO run a front license plate? No way around it?

The car looks real nice Sluggo!

Thanks Dave,
Front plates are required in Texas. There supposedly is some loop hole for 2 door coupes. Never looked into it, but we have been told not to put front plates on Scion TCs at work. :conf

I know if you register as an antique and run antique auto plates, they only give you one plate.

I will probably put a Blue Oval plate up there one of these days.

When I moved to TX from AZ (where no front plate is required) I took my chances without the plate. Didn't want to drill mounting holes in the virgin front bumper of my black Bullitt.
Got pulled over about a block from home and got a warning. He said next time it would be a $85 ticket. Drilled the holes. Sad thing is, about 6 months later I sold the car to a friend in AZ.

you have to have front plates in Texas. I learned that the hard way when I was 16.

I had an '80 Trans Am and had a leather bra on the front so no front plate. Cop stopped me and wrote me a ticket.

I wasn't putting holes in the bra so I just propped it up in the front windshield...basically wedged it between the dash and the windshield.

I've seen some folks do other things like put it on their passenger's side sun visor and leave it down, etc.

In Illinois a front plate is required but not KY. I have moved back and forth a few times. Never run a front plant on most of my cars. I have gotton a parking ticket for no plate and a warning. Stiil didn't run a front plate.

We here in Cali are required to run front plates, too.

I didn't have a front plate on my Tacoma for awhile, and during that time I "accidently" ran a red light with a photo enforcement rig... got hit with a big bright strobe flash in the face, but never got a ticket. I assume it was because I didn't have front plate at the time.

Then, a few weeks later, I came out to my truck parked at a meter and found a ticket. I thought, WTF, I paid that meter. Upon inspection, the ticket was for no front plate!!! It was only a $10 fix-it ticket. Not wanting to push I luck any more, I put on the front license plate for good.

For my 67 that has a fiberglass lower valance, I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to affix the front plate yet.
