Texas meet in the middle ideas.

I would not suggest the following dates;
Sept. 16-18 due to the Austin City Limits Festival
Sept. 3; Sept. 10; Oct. 15; Oct. 29 or 11-05 due to UT home football games
Hotel rooms will most likely be hard to get. Hell, they are probably already booked.

What about we something organized like a track day? I could invite the local Mustang club as well???

Or maybe a visit to the Mustang shop that moved from Houston to the hill country? That would be a nice drive.

Or maybe we hit one of the weekly car show?

North Austin

Car Show at Hwy 183 & 1431 in Cedar Park every Saturday night at Office Depot lot 5pm to 9 pm plus

Friday Night Cruise-In, Home Depot parking lot in Round Rock, start 6pm, I-35 & Louis Henna

South Austin

I'd recommend Lake Travis, aka Hippy Hollow Lake, as your venue.

Outside event... in August... in Texas... :wth Are you crazy? lol

Even worse than that..... it's held in the Great Hills Baptist parking lot. No BEER or scantly clad women allowed.
That's why I didn't suggest that event, that and it's not in the Fall. A ride out to the Oasis at sunset would be great and is a must see in Austin. Then a cruise to one of the local parking lot car showups.

It is actually Lake Travis and Hippy Hollow is a county park where people can sunbath in the the nude. Take my word for it, you don't want to see 60 year old Hippies, male or female. :skul

If someone would set the date, I will put in on our calendar. Hope to be driving Julie's 68 coupe by then. It should be ready by June for some shake down drives. This could be it's first long haul.

Oct 8th.. is the only day I couldn't do anything as that in my car clubs annual car show (all proceeds go to the VFW to help vets :thu ) here in Bryan TX... I can't miss it. Anytime after Oct 8th would be good because that is the date I have set to have Gertrude back on the road.

There is not much to do in Las Vegas, Texas (south west of San Antonio). Why would you want to suggest there? :shrug

These all sound like winners. I can arrange a cruise out to Mustang Mania. I Spoke with Russell today and he said he'd be happy to have us come by.

Late September or October would be the best weatherwise. I'm booked Sunday 9/11/2011 and will be driving two days on both sides of that date.

Even if there is a UT game, if we keep up north, or south west, away from central austin and campus, and head out 360 to HWY 71 to Mustang Mania, I really don't feel there will be a issue. We could route it correctly to end up one of the BBQ places - or even time it right to hit one of the restaurants out that direction. Tons places to eat out in Bee Caves and HWY 71 area.
